With its spacious reception, dining, and boardrooms, its central location on the University of Utah campus, and lovely, seasonal landscaping, the Alumni House is a favorite venue for wedding receptions, anniversaries, meetings, retreats, and other events. The Alumni House features ample parking space as well as an experienced, friendly staff to assist with all your event needs in addition to state of the art audiovisual. Garden spaces, both indoor and outdoor, are available. Capacities throughout range from intimate groups of 30 guests to full seating for up to 116 guests.
Brighton Ski Resort is located just 35 minutes outside Salt Lake City at the top of Big Cottonwood Canyon. It is known for great winter activities and that continues all year round with their facilities available for private events. A picturesque mountain setting, Brighton provides an amazing backdrop for a wedding, a corporate summer party or a private gathering.
Cactus & Tropicals can be the perfect setting for any wedding or event. At both locations of these incredible garden stores, there is lush greenhouse and outdoor garden space that can comfortably accommodate a large group while still maintaining the intimacy needed for a fun gathering. Bonus: The abundant array of bright, seasonal flowers and gorgeous greenery means you don't need to spend a fortune on décor.
Known as one of Salt Lake City’s “most beloved buildings,” this theater features elegant, turn-of-the-century architectural details and hosts many different types of events – concerts and dance performances, plays and lectures. Films can also be screened. It seats just over 1,850 people and the staff can meet a full range of lighting and audiovisual needs. The Capitol Theatre is owned and operated by the Salt Lake County Center for the Arts.
Clark Planetarium’s space exploration-themed building is a unique and spacious facility, with flexible capacity that allows entertaining small groups or parties of up to 800 guests. With the ATK IMAX 3D Theatre, the actual planetarium with its sophisticated projection system (called the Hansen Dome Theatre, which seats 205), classrooms, and 10,000 square feet of exhibits and exhibit space for groups of multiple sizes, the planetarium is your choice for an out-of-this-world event!
The Complex is a large, incredibly versatile 45,000-square-foot venue in downtown Salt Lake City. It is divided into four rooms – the Grand (for up to 850 guests); the Rockwell (16,500 square feet, for sporting events and other large groups); Vertigo (a nightclub for the over-21 crowd); and The Vibe (room for up to 200, with eight big-screen televisions). A top-notch production staff can help with the planning of a wide variety of events, from major fashion shows to movie premieres and corporate events, weddings and other private gatherings. The staff touts its ability to organize successful, stress-free and memorable events!
A Salt Lake City landmark, the old Union Pacific train station now houses The Depot, one of Utah’s coolest indoor concert venues. In addition to live music, it is also a fabulous space for weddings and corporate events, with 17,000 square feet of banquet space on three floors of the building. The Blue Goose is an intimate dining space for parties of 70 to 120, with adjacent meeting rooms; a Street-Level Banquet Room accommodates parties of up to 200. The Depot’s proximity to the TRAX light-rail system adds to the convenience.
Discovery Gateway is a children's museum, centrally located in the Gateway Mall in downtown Salt Lake City. This event site offers 60,000 square feet of interactive, hands-on fun for groups of all ages. Everyone will enjoy the playful atmosphere here! Its super convenient location – along public transit lines and with plentiful mall parking – is a plus. Discovery Gateway has a variety of rental options available, from small groups to formal, served events for up to 200, to rental of the full facility, which can accommodate 1,500 guests.
The John W. Gallivan Center in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City is such a classy and versatile indoor or outdoor event site. The grounds accommodate several thousand, and the new Gallivan Hall provides event space for up to 600 for receptions, or 200 for formal served events. The outdoor plaza and amphitheater, ice rink and beautifully-maintained grounds have long been fabulous locations for all seasons. This is a great spot for a major convention activity, a gala fundraiser, or even for an intimate wedding.
Part of the “This is the Place” venue, the Garden Place has the rustic feel of an historic lodge, with its open-beam wooden ceilings and two massive fireplaces – one inside, the other on a pretty patio that also features a waterfall and panoramic mountain view. Indoor space accommodates 300 seated diners, or up to 500 for reception-style events; the patio holds another 300.
From its dramatic lobby to the comfortable meeting rooms and a state-of-the-art theater in the round, this gem of a site is a community theater with an annual slate of live performances. To raise extra funds for its operation, it encourages rentals of the facility – and can even offer set design and construction for custom-themed events. From a meeting for a dozen people, to a presentation for 600, think of the fun options here to make events “theatrical” – in every way!
Are you looking for a venue that whisks you and your guests away to an elegant oasis? The Reception Center at Highland Gardens is just the spot! This dual atrium-style glass house is filled with luscious tropical foliage and a touch of Tuscan décor. It is a stylish choice for weddings and social occasions, in any season.
The social hall connected to Holy Trinity Cathedral is a community center available to the general public. The facility with full kitchens can accommodate 300 guests for a formal served event. All tables and chairs are available on site. This location is very affordable and conveniently located in downtown Salt Lake City.
Hope Gallery is an elegant, 15,000-square-foot display space adorned with a breathtaking collection of what its board considers the “forgotten” masters – painters and sculptors of the 19th and early 20th centuries. From its historic, curved stained glass ceiling to the dramatic works of art on every wall, every meeting, cocktail party or wedding reception here is endowed with an extra touch of class.
The JCC is perched on a hill near the University of Utah Medical Center, with a beautiful view of the valley and downtown Salt Lake City. This attractive, flexible space is open and welcoming to people of all faiths. It has been used for weddings and anniversary parties, reunions, bar and bat mitzvahs, seminars and corporate events, to name a few.
Junior Achievement is the world’s largest organization dedicated to educating students about workforce readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs. Within their complex is JA City that is available for private events. The magic of JA City doesn't have to stop with the students. Your guests can experience the same wonder as you host your next corporate or private event. There is plenty of room for entertaining, dancing, celebrating or just meeting with your staff! JA sports a full kitchen and state of the art audio/video system.
As the Kimball puts it, there is space here for events “from black tie to tie-dye.” You couldn’t ask for a cooler location in central Park City’s lively Old Town neighborhood. The building is divided into three galleries – the Main Gallery, at 2,400 square feet (enough to seat up to 200 for meals); the Badami, at 600 square feet (think receptions, for up to 100); and a small “Garage Gallery.” But a showpiece of the space is a 4,000 square-foot outdoor patio. All are available for special event rental.
Kingsbury Hall has been the focus for more than just outstanding theatre. The hall has hosted lectures, conventions, lunch meetings, retreats, auditions, weddings, rehearsals, pageants, and news conferences, to name a few. Kingsbury Hall has rooms to accommodate every activity and a professional staff to ensure that your event is a success. No matter the weather or time of year, you can say those wedding vows in a place of perpetual springtime, in “Le Jardin” – the garden! Guests will love strolling through this beautiful greenhouse surrounded by fragrant flowers and the sounds of babbling brooks. What a perfect site for wedding receptions of up to 300 guests.
This is one of the grand old buildings located on Presidents Circle on the University of Utah campus. Seats 200 guests for a formal dinner, up to 400 for a reception-style wedding, and up to 680 for a musical event. It has a full stage, two concert grand pianos and a massive pipe organ! It is a lovely spot for an event that will feature music and dancing in royal style.
Located in the beautiful Memory Grove Park just north of Temple Square, the Memorial House offers a quaint old-world charm with its historic building (built in 1890) and grounds. It’s hard to believe it was once a stable – and a blacksmith shop! It has been lovingly remodeled in stages over the years and today, Memorial House is a wonderful choice for wedding receptions, classy luncheons, or intimate, formal dinners. Formal seating is available for up to 150 and receptions allow for up to 300.
The museum’s new home, the Rio Tinto Center, is truly one-of-a-kind – distinctive from first view! Wrapped with 42,000 square feet of copper, it was designed throughout to LEED (“green” building) standards. Its elegant Canyon Room can hold up to 375 people for a seated dinner, 700 for a reception. It is also possible to rent further access, allowing guests to enjoy a “Gallery Stroll” through seven themed exhibits on three levels. For smaller groups, several of the individual galleries may be rented, or the Swaner Forum, a well-appointed meeting space with gorgeous views. Want to impress a visiting group? This is the place!
Newpark Resort is nestled in Utah’s famed Wasatch Mountains, home to “the greatest snow on Earth” – a mention so important that it’s trademarked! You can rent the entire farm or just a portion of it – and either way, your guests will love this restored Utah dairy farm, a restoration of Salt Lake County’s rural heritage from 1890 to 1940. It is on both state and national registries of historic places. Tractor-drawn wagon rides, a close-up look at farm chores, plenty of ducks to feed, tours of the Wheelers’ home, and a 5K run/walk trail are some of the amenities and activities. It’s a very special spot for birthdays and family picnics, with ample parking and both indoor and outdoor rental spaces.

This venue in the heart of downtown Salt Lake is home to the Utah Symphony and Opera, and offers an elegant setting for any event. Grand, 50-foot glass windows showcase the gold-leaf lobby, which features a stunning Chihuly glass sculpture that was donated by the Salt Lake Organizing Committee and private donors following the Salt Lake City Winter Olympic Games. The lower lobby, Abravanel Room, and First Tier room can be rented. The lobby has a capacity of 500 for cocktail events, 200 for formal served dinners; a combination of rooms will provide a venue site for up to 800 guests.
